Are you someone who believes you can make a difference in impacting lives? Becoming a Registered Nurse is an exciting and rewarding field. However, some students are also interested in management options in the health care industry.
About the program
Delta College students have an option to add General Management to the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and get an Associate in Business Studies Degree at the same time.
Students generally take the 24 necessary business studies credits before the nursing clinical coursework begins.
Registered Nurses with a dual associate degree in general management have the choice to work in a variety of settings, such as: hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, home health care, hospice and in industrial nursing positions. They also might manage a physician’s practice or a team of nurses.
With this dual associate degree, possible careers might include charge nurse, office manager or nurse supervisor.
Employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 19 percent from 2012 to 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The growth is due to several factors, namely a sizable population of aging baby boomers and the expansion of U.S. healthcare coverage levels under the Affordable Care Act. The national average salary for an RN is $66,640, more for someone in a management role.
