Course DescriptionPrerequisite: CST 091 or instructor permission. Presents the terminology needed to become familiar with office applications. Provides a first exposure to Microsoft Office applications in a hands-on setting. Assists those who lack familiarity with Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Presentation Graphics. Does not earn credit toward graduation. (7.5-1.5)


Outcomes and Objectives

Use the Windows Operating System as it relates to application programs.
Objectives:
  1. Open and close multiple office applications.
  2. Use the clipboard to Copy/Cut/Paste text and objects within a document and from document to document.
  3. Save, Save As, and Print files.

Perform basic skills in Word Processing.
Objectives:
  1. Define the basic terms used in Word Processing applications.
  2. Create new documents.
  3. Modify the content of existing documents.
  4. Apply simple formatting to documents such as bold, italics, underline, and centering.

Perform basic skills in the use of a Spreadsheet.
Objectives:
  1. Define the basic terms used in Spreadsheet applications.
  2. Insert numbers and text in an existing Spreadsheet.
  3. Add the numbers in a column.
  4. Apply simple formatting to a Spreadsheet.

Perform basic skills in Presentation Graphics.
Objectives:
  1. Define the basic terms used in Presentation Graphics applications.
  2. Modify an existing presentation.
  3. Display a slide show.
